History
Leichhardt Uniting Church Parish Mission has a long and proud 125 year history of serving the people of the Leichhardt municipality and beyond. In the past it has been a central mission church; linked at different times to various congregations including Lilyfield, Annandale, Camperdown and Petersham. In the 1950s the homes for the aged were established as a mission outreach. These became the major part of what is now Uniting Care Ageing Sydney Region. In 2002 LUCAN CARE (as it was then known) became a separate entity to the church, allowing each to better focus on their core goals and activities. Today the Leichhardt Mission is responsible for the running of the church and for activities held in Martin hall during week days and week ends and for the upkeep of Epworth house student hostel which is next to the church at 5 Wetherill St.

Mission statement
We seek to become a growing, inclusive and welcoming church in which our common life is held together by our love, worship, witness and service for God. We worship God the Holy Trinity whom we recognise as Creator, Redeemer and life-giving Spirit.

We wish to hear and respond to God’s urgent call to faithful Christian living and to claim God’s just and peaceful word of abundant life and everlasting hope. We long for a fully renewed creation. We recognise that this is God’s work, but that we are also called to share in it as co-workers with Christ. We commit ourselves to this work, God being our helper.
